I don't know if it fits your obscurity criteria, but 'Tetris Attack' gets a lot of play around these parts. Highly recommended if you don't mind the Yoshi theme. I can play most of the tunes on my bass now :-) The guy who did the music must be a bass player because the bass is featured prominently in almost all the musixxx

Cosmo Gang is great (did you try the arcade version in MAME), but Tetris Attack is better!
