SubjectHidden SNES Gems new Reply to this message

Hi there,
I don't know where else to post this: I am asking for recommended japanese Super Famicom / SNES games. Something that is still fun today, like "GoGO Dodge League" or "Super Final Match Tennis", "Cosmo Gang", "Parodius 3" etc. But also some weird games that are fun? Or maybe a hidden gem from Konami only released in Japan. Any recommendations? What are your favourites? Is there a list for such games somewhere in the Internet (with fun ratings)? Thank you for your time!

I don't know if it fits your obscurity criteria, but 'Tetris Attack' gets a lot of play around these parts. Highly recommended if you don't mind the Yoshi theme. I can play most of the tunes on my bass now :-) The guy who did the music must be a bass player because the bass is featured prominently in almost all the musixxx

Cosmo Gang is great (did you try the arcade version in MAME), but Tetris Attack is better!

Maybe not what you were asking as a "hidden gem". But it's definately another kind of gem. The kind you step on on city parks if you don't watch the floor :D

Great for some laughs. Kano's idle animation looks like he's doing some sort of kooky dance, and when you punch somebody, it looks like if they spit their liver (I assume its supposed to be blood).

hilarious.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Is there any webpage with this topic? Cheers, lordhelmchen00.

Either(or both) Pop'n Twinbee and Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventures are great. The first is a vert shooter and very creative, while the other takes the usual shooter crew into a Mario/Kirby-esque platforming experience that's very well executed (Own the shooter, used to have the other.) Also since I assume you're after roms, if you like shooters and ones with decent detail visually and challenge try the Japanese one called Spriggan Powered as it's quite excellent. I for one am out of the anime thing nearly completely but I still have a good spot for Lupin the 3rd, there's one of those as a platformer on the SNES and it's very well executed as well, might as well grab that and give it a try.

If you like action based games you may try 'RČ - Rendering Ranger'...
