Either(or both) Pop'n Twinbee and Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventures are great. The first is a vert shooter and very creative, while the other takes the usual shooter crew into a Mario/Kirby-esque platforming experience that's very well executed (Own the shooter, used to have the other.) Also since I assume you're after roms, if you like shooters and ones with decent detail visually and challenge try the Japanese one called Spriggan Powered as it's quite excellent. I for one am out of the anime thing nearly completely but I still have a good spot for Lupin the 3rd, there's one of those as a platformer on the SNES and it's very well executed as well, might as well grab that and give it a try.
