Seen on insertcredit.com : this page says PC-Engine emulators can't do the original machine's full 512x240 resolution. Since I don't know the machine that well or the alternatives to Magic Engine, can someone confirm or refute this ? Thanks.

Mednafen is the only PCE emulator worth using and it's still not perfect. For one, it has no GUI and the only real frontend kinda bites.

I wound up just writing a small batch file for whenever I wanted to play a PCE CD game (I don't bother with the HuCards...nothing there interests me) and it works dandy (with the exception of the hidden bonus game in Dracula X not working last time I checked and a single sprite priority problem in both Exile and Ys).

MednafenX-PCE for Xbox does 720p or 1080i. I run it at 720x480 on my 27" TV and it looks awesome. You can use custom resolutions as well. It has a killer gui and many options. It looks freaking sharp. No flickering at all using a component or better video cable. I say it looks much better than the real deal. A lot of the PC-Engine games I have played on it play flawlessly

Why in the name of god do people use emulator specific frontends when something like QuickPlay exists?

There's so many things it can do it's not even funny. For one, it's super customizable, so you can make it it look pretty much like you want it to. Also, it provides support for ROMs in not only Zip format, but Ace, RAR, and 7zip.

One of the most bad ass things about it is that you can have a system's ROMs contained in a single big ass archive, which with 7zip creates amazing space savings (Compression-wise and due to extreme reduction in slack file waste, which with the retarded amount of games I have is amazingly useful).

Even before this, there were universal frontends like 1-Up and Emustation that were awesome for their time; lack of a GUI in an emulator is a complete non-issue with something like them, so it blows my mind that people bitch about that.

p.s. Mednafen rules.
