SubjectCasual MAME new Reply to this message

I've been an avid MAME user for the past couple of years as it's provided me with a stable of games that held some memories of my childhood and the yesteryear. My computer happens to be a jaded ol' P4 3.06Ghz with 1 GB of DDR ram, but I got a kicking Raedon 1600 pro.

Anyway, I'm looking for an unofficial build of mame that will let me get the oomph out of my PC without utterly taxing it. I'm not looking to play anything post-'00 (well unless it's 2D), or anything that would require me to steal something from NASA to get 60fps. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Please leave your experiences if you do reply with said MAME.

Thanks.

It doesn't exist.

I'm not looking to play anything

Then you should be fine with your current PC.

A 3GHz P4 is more than fast enough to run the vast majority of games supported by mame at full speed. My guess is you have some kind of configuration issue.

Which games are giving you problems?

Please list the games you're having trouble with, I find it hard to believe there are many 2D games that would tax a 3.0+ GHZ PC...

Whatever happened fastMAME?

Looks like this build was really optimized but only got up to version 0.98

This build would probably be the ebst one for speed.

It can be found at http://www.geoshock.com/

Oh I don't have any game problems. I'm just looking for something that I can use the power of my video card, probably some nice looking filters without taxing my machine in the process. None of those 2d games can tax my system...

Go run "Hidden Catch" or some of the other games on that driver.

My PC is kinda ass.

Though, I was hoping for some sort of response to my question and not someone pointing out that my PC would get totally molested by a game I've never heard of, like..ever.

So, how about it?
