> Why in the world spend hundreds of dollars for Blu Ray and then this game? >
I guess if you already spent a decent chunk of change on an HDTV then you'd know the answer to that (well, assuming you also enjoyed Dragon's Lair and had a desire to play it in HD). Is the transfer supposed to really be THAT amazing? I may check it out if Netflix carried it for whatever reason, but I couldn't see myself buying it.
Hell, blu-ray discs in general are way too fucking expensive. They're part of the reason I signed up for Netfix (and I fucking LOVE it). Hmmm, $35 for a single movie or $13 a month to get unlimited rentals of any two movies at a time each month? Hmm....
...but yea, if you don't have an HDTV AND you're not interested in the franchises that are on 360 and PS3 (or don't mind getting extremely weak ports of games from other platforms) AND really dig Nintendo's first party games....then yea, I can totally see getting a Wii.
After buying an HDTV, it just seems silly to stick to only watching DVDs on it and playing 480i/p games on it. Hell, even HD cable blows because most HD channels crop 2.35:1 movies down to 16:9 instead of showing them full aspect (sure, it's better than going down to 4:3....but still...). But hey, some people buy HDTVs and subscribe to HD cable just for Discovery Sunrise. Some people buy HDTVs, don't buy cable and then buy Wiis... but then don't bother to shell out the extra cash for component cables or even svideo cables.
People are weird.
Oh, and the Battlestar Galactica series needs to come out on Blu-Ray, too. I caught a few reruns of season 1 on UniversalHD and I...I peed a little. I wouldn't even Netflix the season, I'd buy it outright and donate my DVDs of Season 1 to the library or something.
