MameCE3 Version 9.0 is now officially released! :)
Auto installation file, New GUI, multiple Directories for Roms including \My Documents and Storage Card Support.
As usual you can get them at:
http://www.mameworld.com/mamece/

The server is terribly slow tonight. The MEGA builds links point to the regular 9.0 builds so the only choice is the installer file. And at 6+ megs my cable modem is still useless with such low transfer rates that I am getting. Maybe Sunday will be better. Thanks anyways for the update. I'm sure it will be worth the download hassles.

Techmaster,

Love it and the games work fine. I would look at making it possible to bring up the keyboard. Some roms need to
type ok even after the cfg file for that game is setup. Try Qix and Tee off Golf are two that I know of. But it look great and pretty fast. Keep up the excellent work.

The MEGA Builds link is pointing to the correct single MEGABuilds version for all platfoms. But as you said, the server seems very slow tonight. Keep at it, its worth it :)

Oops, I probably wasn't clear. The single MEGA build links for the individual PocketPCs for manual installs are pointed to the regular build zip files. That is why I am attempting to download the installer. All I want is the iPAQ MEGA upgrade. Thanks Techmaster.

Oops on my part,
The links for the single MEGA Builds are now correct.

SubjectI like the new Games List Screen But... new Reply to this message

Hey Techmaster I liked what you did to the main screen of the program, but it seems to me that when I'm trying to exit a game (using the start button), it take a while to go back to the main screen (24 second to be exact). It wasn't this long before on your previous release. Is there any work around this? BTW I'm using a Casio E-125.

Thanks!

I'm so glad you included the bg screen :)
There are few problems though. Speed on casio is slower then before because you forgot to downclock games.
Exiting from the game crashes MAMECE3 if the dirtyline is enabled (just like before) That's probably only on Casio?

I think it doesn't crash it just take aproximately 24 sec to go back to the main screen. What big game screen are you talking about? Can you give me an example? Thanks

It does crash on EM-500

No, not BIG screen, it's BG (background) that I asked him to put instead of simple gray color on the game selection screen :)

You are talking about the MEGA Build correct? The Basic Build comes back in about 3 seconds on my Casio E115 and about 20 seconds on the MEGA build. I think its just the new size of the MEGA build. It has more games enabled than the previous one (almost all of them to be exact). Theire is one thing I can try to tweak it. I unload the driver list from memory before running the game (I did this to try and give the emulation as much as possible). I can disable this and see what happens.

I rebuilt from scratch, so the downclocking didn't get added. I'll include it in the next minor upgrade.
The dirtyline code is still leftover from the previous build so yes it probably still crashes the Casio :(
It is still on the need to fix list but moving up now.

Good news is, the Source Code is just about ready for
release and it compiles properly on the Embedded Toolkit
(now that I removed almost all the homemade CRT libraries).

When I try to execute the large build setupfile I get:

"Application Manager can not install the application due to an invalid setupfile"

I have tried downloading it again....but same error.

I have a E-125. Suggestions ?

I get the same error message trying to install to my EM-500. Tried DL'ing the MIPS only file and it says it cannot install because I do not have the right device.

The installer may not recognized those 2 devices. Im not sure what the MS code for those processors may be. I'll have to investigate that a little further. Try doing the manual installation for now.

I'm getting the same error trying to install the normal (non-MEGA) version on iPAQ 3630 (UK). My host is a Sony VAIO notebook running Win2K Pro & ActiveSync 3.1.

Any suggestion Tech or anybody?

I've been unable to get this working so far on my Jordana 540 - I realize you have only been able to do limited testing on this platform.

When the game screen appears there are no games within it - is this right? I can see them only after I have selected 'show all games'

I select a game and 'play' and I get a black screen for a few seconds before being returned to the game screen.
I have reset the machine and have no additional applications installed. this lets me have 9M of free program memory. I installed the program(big) onto a storage card.

I hope it is simply the case that I haven't set it up properly. Do you have any advise?

Thanks

DasBaby

You are forgetting one of the most important steps,
You need to download some Game ROMs from the internet and put them in the ROMS folder.
MameCE3 is an emulator, emulators are not distributed with the game Roms due to legality issues.
ROMs can be found in a variety of places such as Newsgroups, Web Sites, CHat sessions etc.

Using my work PC running Win2K Pro the autoinstaller would not work at all. Tried it last night on my home PC running WinME. The MIPs only file still did not work, but the full mega version appeared to work. When I checked the EM-500 screen it had a message that the install did not copy all files needed and to uninstal and try again. Tried re-installing with same results.

Using Tech's suggestion about manual installation, I tracked down the .cab files on my PC from the failed full install and copied the MIPsC3.cab file to the storage card on my EM-500. Then I clicked on the file and it installed itself into the onboard memory. Next I moved the MameCE directory to the storage card and created a new shortcut in the start menu. Appears to be working fine.

Question: I found two .cab files labeled MIPS. One called MIPsC2 and the other MIPsC3. What is the difference between these?

The MIPsC2 is the Palm Sized PC cab for the Casio E10x. It is not a new version just the old .036b3 one.
Sorry you are having so much trouble. My only defense is that I don't have an EM500 to test it with.
I am glad to here the cab file is working correctly. The ezsetup app that rolls the cabs into an installer was freeware so it may have a few bugs in it.
Maybe i will add a link to the cab only files.
I'll also try to fix the install to non 'default folder' option, so you can select the storage card by choice.

Thanks for that. For some reason, I was under the impression that the 'big' version actually contained the roms.

I am still having problems however.
I select the game to run now and the game screen goes black with the rom name appearing on the title bar.
Sometimes when I press the buttons - randomly - the game starts to make a noise. I can cancel my way out by pressing the action button.

I don't think it is the machine since other people have it working. I'm probably still doing something wrong..

I appreciate your help
