Hi, I'm running Galaga on my Cassiopeia EG800 with MAMECE3 v8.0 and the game is just not playable because it is too slow, unlike, say Phoenix... I saw that Galaga was underclocked, is there a way to overclock, or speed it up in any way?? Many thanx.

Try playing it on mameboy. It's very close to be playable. If your EG800 is overclocked to 200Mhz, then it's actually fully playable.

It was underclocked to Speed it up. Underclocking in this case means cutting the processor speed down in the code so that it doesn't need as much CPU power on the device, thereby speeding the game up. Unfortunately some games just need more CPU speed than is available, to be emulated properly. Galaga uses 3 CPUs, so its is a CPU hog.

You can try one of the other emulators and see if that helps. I know Mameboy has done some optimization on Galaga so it might be faster.

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you gentlemen.
I downloaded mameboy and galaga works like a charm on my EG800! I can now spent some counterproductive hours pretending I'm still the kid I was when I was playing this in arcades... :)

You mentioned overclocking my eg800, I'd go for it ifI knew it's 100% safe and also easy to do. Did anyone have the guts it took to open a $1000 little machine like the eg800 and rewire sth in it? As for me, I'd rather rewrite a game in C or asm rather than do that... :]

Robert.

I did, but it freezes right after I enter my name in high score. Any suggestion, anyone? Mr Finck?
