First soft-reset your device (the recessed button on the back, press it with the tip of the stylus).
Second, make sure your volume isn't turned all the way down.
(i.e. turn it all the way up)
Third, on MAMECE-10X main screen, make sure you select the checkbox next to "Enable Sound" checked.
The sound in Galaxian should be OK, however you'll find that in 1942 is really sucks and slows down the game a lot (i.e. don't bother playing 1942 with sound).
