Finding Roms is a little more difficult that it has been, but it can be done. Using a web browser is not the Only way, nor is it actually the best way (especially with the legality issues relating to ROM ownership) IMHO.
The really sure way to get roms is to install Agent or Free Agent Newsreader and go to alt.binaries.emulators.misc
Rom floods are posted there all the time and if you need one specifically, just post a request. If posted nicely your request is usually filled pretty quick.
A second way to acquire ROMs is to install a chat client. I've never done it that way but if you ask someone here they may reply how and where to go to do it.
I can understand your frustration, but no one on this board can do anything about those bad sites. The internet is full of jerks that are just looking for your clicks to make money. The only thing you can do is avoid such places and ask nicely for help on freindly messageboards and forums.
