SubjectIs the button prob on the iPAQ a big issue? new Reply to this message

Very soon I am going to buy either an iPAQ or Casio PDA.
I am primarily getting it for entertainment and was fairly
set on buying an iPAQ because it has the fastest CPU.

Then I found out that simultaneous button presses are not recognized on the iPAQ.

Does this affect gameplay so much that the slower Casio is better for games simply because it has better controls?

It also seems like games come out first on the iPAQ. Why?

Is there anything that can be done in software to fix the control problem besides using touch screen buttons?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Casio has better controls and by far better screen for usage indoors. iPAQ's screen is better when compared outdoors. As if it affects gameplay a lot, that's only for you to decide. For some people (like me) bad control is a nightmare, while some others don't have problems pressing the screen instead of buttons

A lot more people have it. It's fancier looking device and that's what sells everything, no?

No. Many have tried.

If I were you I'd think about waiting for the next generation of Casio. I dunno how long that might be in the works, but I get very annoyed with the 1-button problem on my iPaq. As a simple example, think about just trying to run and jump at the same time in Mario...

You won't be disappointed by the power and versatility of the iPaq (I can't live without it!) but think twice if you only want one for games.

Or perhaps get a GBA, they're pretty cool... ;)

Thanks very much for the info!

Does the EM125 have the most powerful CPU of the Casio models?

Also how much slower are games on Casios compared to the iPAQ?

Yes, same as EM-500

Depends on a game. Emulators are quite slower, especially SNES / PC Engine emus.

MAME runs fine on both.
