SubjectSome good news on MAMEBoy front! new Reply to this message

I've FINALLY managed to successfully install damned Visual C++ setup on my home testing machine. It looks like my Win 2K setup at work is beyond any help and even reinstalling an OS from scratch didn't helped. It's probably even better this way because I can continue updating MAMEBoy without being afraid of my boss walking around :)
The really good news: I've enabled many requested games and I'll soon be releasing special, unsupported version, with requested games enabled, just as I promised. Now is the last minute to request a game you'd like to see in the new build. Just leave your request here and try to make it reasonable (I.E. no CPS2 games :)

That's good news. A few requests:

Spiders
Tempest
Tempest Tubes
Black Tiger
Mr Do's Wild Ride
Mr. Do's Castle (it isn't in the latest build is it?)
Mr. Do Run Run (I think that is the name of it)
Mappy
Commando
Elevator

Okay, more than a few but it doesn't hurt to ask. thanks Marco for keeping the dream alive.

Some ideas to improve the (already) GREAT Mameboy...

* New games:
- KungFuMaster (screen centered)
- PinballAction
- PowerSpikes

* A landscape mode to play 320x240 games
* Pickup games in the current rom subdirectory

Keep the good work!!!

WooHoo!!! Great news!

I'd like to request:

Pac-Man
Centepede
Asteroids
PunchOut (I can dream can't I :) )

Thanks!

Thanks for your great work.
I just have bought my Cassiopeia 500 especially for Mame.

My requests (and my dreams) are:
Pacman working
Frogger working
Phoenix with sound
Scramble and Burgertime and Digdug fast enough with sound activated
Ckong with complete sound (sound is incomplete in the current build)
Sample support for simple games like Space invaders

If you need an audio guy to make small, Cassiopeia-optimized samples (8 bit, 8 khz?) for mame games, I would be happy to do it for you.

P.S. My not-so-realistic dream is Marble Madness. (I am the guy with the marble-homepage www.bodenstaendig.de/marble). Theoretically, I think it could be possible on day on a Cassiopeia if we use sample-sound.

These two work fine in MAMECE-10X (Pacman even with sound). I don't know why they wouldn't be working in Mameboy.

Don't hold your breath for any of these.

The size of the samples isn't really a problem so much as the fact that samples don't work at all with the source currently as it is. I, too, would love to have sample support for SI; however sound programming is one of my many weak points.

I've played Marble Madness on my Caio E-100.
It was *painfully* slow. Disabling the sound CPU on Marble Madness (and similar hardware, Atari System 1) isn't really easy since it also handles detecting a coin being inserted.

Probably not. Maybe on iPaq, but probably not even on it using MAME as an emulator. One day faster devices will be common so let's just wait :)

Please please please: if you ever get a chance to test your excellent MAME CE port with .... KUNG-FU MASTER (btw the greatest game ever), that would be even more awesome!!!

I'm confused. Is Pac-Man not working on Mameboy? My copy has Pac-Man listed, and I can use Ms. Pac-Man. (I don't use Pac-Man because I have the fun pack version.) Also I have Frogger which is a game people are asking about.

The great Marconelly sent me working roms in the meantime.
:-)
You need "pacmanm" (Pacman Midway) for Pacman and the Roms for Burgertime and Frogger are also slightly different from the Versions used in DOS-Mame 0.36/0.37b14

I heard about it. :-(
On the other hand, Marble Madness from the commercial Midway-Compilation for Windows (released 1998) uses samples and runs perfect on a P133. The game seems to be true emulation.

Your right. Thanks! I never used the option to list all games. Instead I pulled down roms for all the cfg scripts I saw in the install dir.

Take Pac-Man off the list :)
