SubjectHP Jornada vs Casio E125 vs Compaq iPaq? new Reply to this message

I am going to buy a WinCE PocketPC device, and I was thinking aboot the Jornada. MAME is the most important use of this device, with Quake being 2nd :) Which of these three devices gives the best overall MAME/other emus/Quake experience (compatabilty being very important)? Thanks for any and all help :)

Jornada is by far worst choice for Quake and MAME. I'm not even sure if there's a quake port for Jornada?

iPaq is probably better choice for quake and Casio is in my opinion better choice for MAME (although slower it has much better screen and usable controls)

While I am not a big fan of the Jornada I do have to defend it's performance. I own all three devices and while the iPAQ is the reigning champ when it comes to speed I have yet to find an emulator or PC conversion (Doom, Quake, Hexen) that runs any slower on the J548 than it does on the E125 (not overclocked). I know it doesn't make sense especially with all of these benchmarks including GAPI saying the Jornada is a dog but real life benchmarks matter the most in my opinion. For a lark I did framerate tests with the latest version of Mamece3 and my J548 performed just as well as my E125. Personally I think this proves how underutilized the Casio is (compiler issues, screen access issues discovered by Mr. Banks).

I still agree with Marco, the J series is the worst of the three as far as gaming is concerned. Without a gamepad it just pales in comparison to the other devices. And the passive screen doesn't help either. Personally I would go with the EM500. The price is right and the controls are the best (better than the E125, IMO, the joypad seems more conducive to gaming). But if you want to play Mame on the beach go with the iPAQ.

This is just my opinion.
