Open question: Does anyone know how to get the 548 to accept keypresses from multiple buttons at the same time? e.g., most games seem to require you to jump while still pressing left or right to be functional. Is there any way to do this? Is it known if this will be possible with the Stowaway keyboard? Am I asking too many questions? :)

Not directly.
A work around is to program (for each specific game not the defualt keys) so that 1 button jumps and runs in a single direction, or runs and fires, etc. The Jornado version has not been compiled to allow you get access to the MAME UI so you will need to do this on your desktop version or on a friends iPaq or Casio. Once created just copy the 'game'.cfg file to your device\program files\mamece\cfg folder (replace 'game' with the game that you want such as dkong.cfg). Then start the game and test it.

CFG files are interchangable between platforms so any cfg file will work :)

I have a Jornada 547...If you configure the "wheel" for left/right, it allows a simultaneous button press (Hotkey 1, 2, 3, 4 buttons) for jumping. I use this setup for Donkey Kong and it works well--just takes some getting used to!!!
