I'm running into a similar problem, in that I do not have the typical WinCE machine. I have an IBM Workpad Z50, which runs Win CE version 2.11 (on MIPS CPU). While I discovered the hard way that MameCE3 won't work with 2.11, I can actually see that "something" is happening when I run the plain MameCE. (BTW, their site is down, which is why I'm posting about MameCE here.) However, it looks like it's hardcoded for a different screen dimension. Is there any way I can change that? The Z50 has a 640x480 screen.
I can see sprites, vectors, etc., moving, so I can tell that the emulator is actually working! The graphics are all distorted, wrapping around the 640 pixel screen about 5 times, so I think that all is needed (famous last words) is to adjust the dimensions.
I did search this forum and found some earlier messages discussing recompiling MameCE. I have already downloaded Microsoft's free (!!!) Win CE development system, but then read that that will only support Win CE 3.0.
Are there any command-line options that might work? In true hacker spirit, is it possible to hex-edit MameCE and change the resolution? :-)
Meanwhile, the original poster might want to try the regular "MameCE". If the screen dimensions are right, maybe it would work for him. Hey, worth a shot.
