SubjectQuestion about button mapping new Reply to this message

Hi, I am using the @migo, as most of you know, and it seems the button mapping is a bit different, and I wondered something.

Are the keys on a PocketPC mapped to actual keyboard ASCII key codes? For instance, the number 1 is ASCII code 049. Also, for MAMECE does a game's individual cfg file override the default? In other words, if I delete all the CFG files, replace the default with a new, fixed one, will I have to bother with each game after that?

Also, any way of finding out what button is mapped to what keyboard key equivalent on a PocketPC?

Thanks all.

I use Pocket NES for that purpose. Just start it, go to button mapping options and you'll have a reading for each button you press.

I would have thought there would be a PPC built in utility for that.

Using PocketGB, I remap keys and get numbers, like up, down, left, right are 38,40,37,39 respectively. Are those the true arrow key ASCII codes? The reason being, if I am going to remap on my desktop, where I can only press a key on the keyboard, and then copy the .cfg to the PPC, I need to know which exact PC keyboard keys to set,

The Button codes on the PocketPC are extended codes and may or may not be accessible on the standard keyboard.

The individual game cfg files overide the defualt.cfg.

If you can get to the MameUI(dip switch screen) inside the game then you can reprogram the Mame Keys to the buttons keys just by pressing on them.

Hope that helps.

There's a button on the @migo for the UI screen, and I can scroll up and down between the choices, but no button on the unit (and there are 9 not counting the directional pad) to select, like enter on the PC.

This is why I want to remap.

I have an @migo, and have also been struggling with the same thing. The only way I've found to remap is through mame for windows and then copy the cfg file to my pocket pc.

Here's the coresponding values I've found:

LCTRL
ESC
3 or 1
TAB
ALT or 2

left, right, up, down are the same

I have yet to find (in PocketNES it shows the same address as the record button on the iPAQ), , or buttons.

No matter what button I put in the default config as the select button, it doesn't work.

For example if I set it as TAB which works as the key in games, it still will not act as select in the config menus on the @migo. Very strange to me.

The Select button is preprogrammed to the Record button on the iPaq. Funny thing is if I program any other button to the Record button, all the buttons become that programmed button (ie if I set record to fire1 all buttons become fire1), Some kind of cascading effect, very strange behaviour.
Give me a keyscan code for the @amigo button you want programmed to Select and I will see if I can tweak it somehow. Can't gaurentee a timeframe that I can work on this but I will add it to the list.

I may have to get one to see how good it is. Anyone noticed if they are getting sold on Ebay yet ;)

Cheers,
