Subjectcan't get Mam to work on iPaq new Reply to this message

I've red the posts and installed MAME, but I have the same prob someone else reported. When I get into MAME no games are listed. If I go to list clone games, I see the name of the Game Roms I downloaded, but when I push play, I just get a blank screen for a while, then it returns to the list. The same happens when selecting games form the show all games list. I've tried moving my Rom zip file to the My Documents folder as well and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks

1st, make sure the rom files are spelled right.
2nd, make sure they are not in a rom subfolder, have all roms zip files themselves actually in the My documents directory. NOT in a rom subdirectory. It should work flawless if you do the above.

Thanks - I've tried moving the ROMs to the My Docs folder, but still no good. How do I check if they're spelled correctly? I just saved the zip file as it was to the iPaq.

You may be using Game Roms that are not supported. Have you checked the 'show all games' list? Try frogger, dkong, or pacman.
Also, you may have an older or newer romset. Try redownloading it. To check that the roms works correctly, try installing MAME32 on your desktop and then run an audit. Also you can find the proper spelling of the rom in this program as well.

When you try to run it, it gives the window (error,or what have you) And in the upper part, the name it shows is the proper spelling of the rom it's looking for, and below, the ones shown are the individual files it's looking for, if there's a + next to it, it means that particular file was there. (BTW- I tried it again on mine tonight, it won't see the files on the memory card, it will on memory on unit. I was unaware of this problem as i just got a memory card yesterday to actually try this with memory cards.) Funny, a lot of Emu's DO support roms on the memory card though.

Well, thanks for your help, but it's still not working. I don't get an error message at all. Just a blank (purple) screen and then after a while it goes back to the games list.

Roms can be on the memory card. Not in the Storage Card\My Documents folder but in the \Storage Card\Program Files\Mamece\Roms\ folder (if you installed it onto the storage card from the install program). I think I will add the storage card\my documents\folder to the directory path in the next version. I was trying to keep the search time down by using as few paths as possible.

What game rom are you testing?
Try frogger, dkong or pacman. be sure it is a full rom and not a split or clone only. (Post here what your rom size is and what files are in the zip if you suspect it is not a full version).
Another way to test the rom is to install Mame32 on your desktop and do a rom audit to see if the rom verifies alright.
Hope that helps.
