SubjectNo Space Invaders? new Reply to this message

Just installed mame CE3 on my Ipaq 3635 to see how well it would run, I'm impressed to say the least. I was disappointed when I found out that Space Invaders wasn't among the included games. I plyed Galaxian instead. I prefer not to use the extra memory space that the mega builds would require. Any chance in the future of an alternate version with different games enabled but with the same small size? Wish I knew how to code I'd try it myself maybe one of these days I'll find the time to teach myself but somehow I don't think its that simple.

Thanks for the hard work on MameCE3, the auto install works great.

Some future release will include only optimized or fully operational games. At this time I have other items to work on so the optimized version is near the middle to bottom of the to-list.

If you can get everything downloaded and set up, it's really not that hard to enable something, provided it's pretty much there already, just disabled.

For a compiler, you might be able to use the free Microsoft eMbedded development, but it's big.

Unfortunately, you do need to learn a few things about how compilers & stuff works just to get started, but you may not need to know much about how to program just to enable/disable the games individually. If you have enough spare time and the interest, you might give it a shot. I know what I'm doing, and it took me a while to figure out a few things, so I wouldn't really recommend it as a starter programming project. :-)

Anyway, it's a good excuse to get started learning a bit about programming.
