SubjectMameCE3 for HP 568!!! Reply to this message

For all you Jornada 568 Users,

Here is the Official Release of MameCE3! :)

As Ottoman Pointed out, Button1 and the Record button don't seem to work with GAPI, so the key layout is:
MameUI = Action
Button3 = Coin1, 1 Player start, and Fire Button2
Button4 = Fire Button1, 2 Player start, and MameUI Enter
Button2 = Escape to Game Menu
But multiple button presses do work!

Here is th full install in Cab format:
http://www.mameworld.net/mamece3/MameCE3.ARM.CAB

And here is just the EXE file:
http://www.mameworld.net/mamece3/MameCE3.exe

I will update the Web site and create the full exe installer at a later time.

Enjoy.

Cheers,
-Techmaster

Excellent. The only thing is that i get a really bad clicking sound if i enable sound. Is anyone else getting this? Also I know that it's possible to map the record and home buttons, because PocketNES uses those with no problem, just a little FYI.

This thing plays the games at great speeds and it plays great. Thanks

Mapping the home key and recorder does work in some other programs that allow you to remap the hardware buttons but for some reason they just would not map correctly in Mamece3. The only common thread is remapping those buttons work after the application has executed, otherwise if the offsets have been predefined in the source code those key will not work. I ran into the same problem with iMame. Also, Larry Banks referenced the home key having this problem with GAPI in Brighthand recently. PocketNES and other similar programs might just ignore GAPI when it comes to the hardware buttons. That's my only guess as to why they work better.

Thnaks, great game.

Here's what I've found works so far:

Asteroids
Missile Command (no button 3 fire, even when set from UI)
Comes up and starts but no movement:

Battlezone

Freezes at language select:

Qix

Black screen then back to MAMECE Screen (I have over 15megs program space free):

Donkey Kong
Frogger
Galaga
Mario Bros
Star Wars (dang)
Tempest (dang again)
Zaxxon

Could it be a ROM verion issue?

Thanks,

jlc

I have the clicking sound as well in MS PacMan and Donky Kong. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Sound is still very buggy. I keep tinkering but can't seem to get it to work correctly all around.
I haven't given up tho. Still experimenting. I'll get it to work eventually.

Tekhmaster,

MAMECE is greatr - I really appreciate the work you've done. Now the games I wasted many quarters (and hours I should have been studying) playing in college now let me waste time at work.

One question about ROMs:

Are there certain versions that work with MAMEce ON THE 568? It doesn't seem to play as many as the iPaq version (although it recognizes they are installed). Do I need to search out v36b roms?

Thanks,
Jim

Is there a reason the GAPI gx.dll is forced to be installed from the cab file?

Not sure about that.
I will have to investigate the installation script files that build the CAB file.

I'm not aware of any difference in the roms. They should work just as good as on the iPaq. But I don't test all the games so there could be an issue.

Thank you Techmaster!!!

Any chance to compile a BIGmame for HP568 in a near future? I loved to play PinballAction on my E125!
