Hi,

In the Mame-Instructions is said that i have to enable my "Game Keys". Could someone please tell me what that means or how it can be done?? Because some Key are not working in the Games. Iam able us use the Game-Pad and the OK-Button but all other button dont work.

Enabling game keys refered to the older SH3 jornada devices.

If you have a Pocket PC 2002 device, the keys should work correctly.
Dowload the latest release to ensure you have the proper exe.

Iam pretty sure to have the latest exe. When i click on File/About is says version 9.30.

how can i remap the buttons in the mameui, i havent found that one out either, or is it possible to configure the buttons in the cfg-file by hand?

nope. I confirm the prob. I've a french HP565, and I've uninstalled MameCE3 9.30. It's unusable now :(

I've also tried to reinstall the precedent version (which was fully functionnal), but the link on your site was dead yesterday.

I don't think the latest version for the HP568 has the Mame UI option, or if it did it isn't mapped to a working button. Luckily I have a version of 9.0 that works on my HP568 where I can customize the the Mame UI, if needed.

Here is the layout that works best(for me at least):
> MameUI = Action button
> Button3 = Coin1, 1 Player start, and Fire Button2
> Button4 = Fire Button1, 2 Player start, and MameUI Enter
> Button2 = Escape to Game Menu

Techmaster's current mapping are good but if the next version of Mamece3 can include the MameUI functionality it would be even better. Even with the problems the HP568 has with mapping to the home key and record button, mapping the MameUI can work with what the available buttons unlike the older HP54x's. I'm sure Techmaster will get it fixed with the next update.

Try the autoinstaller version. I just uploaded a repacked version 9.3 into a new autoinstaller application.

I changed the MameUI button to the record button which as you know doesn't work correctly at this time.
I did this becuase I kept hitting the action button while playing and this was getting annoying.
I can move it back but I want to look into finding a workaround for the record or Home key first.
You can configure your cfg on your desktop MAME and copy them over. They are interchangeable. :)

Even with the new installer MameCE3 doesn't run correctly.

I've also tried the MegaMameCE, but same prob. After that, I've tried to reinstall an older version (from your site), but I always have the same prob. MameCE doesn't run now, even in older version (the version I've tried was running perfectly before). I've tried hard reset and restoration of a precedent backup, but still have this prob. Do you have a solution ??? Can you map the "insert coin key" to other button ? (and may be some others, but now, this is the one I can't use, so I can't run even a game)

PS : it's not the "buttons bug", because MameCE is the only game which doesn't function.



I hope you will find a solution, because I enjoy MameCE ;)

I'm sorry you are having problems.
The current version runs fine on my Jornanda 568. The 565 is just the 32MB version of the 568, correct?

Did you try a hard reboot, clean install of only mamece3, then test to see if it worked ok with a basic game like pacman or frogger?
Just curious if it works after a clean hard boot.

Other than that I don't know what to say. Can anyone else with a 565 confirm proper operation?

I have a 568 and I think I have the same problem. I can do the left-right to agree when the ROM loads, but I can never insert a coin with any of the buttons. How do I go about modifying the cfg?

The player 1 start game is button 3. This is a little different from previous versions.
If it doens't register a coin right a way give it second and try again. Sometime there is a delay as the program syncs up.
Be sure to close ALL apps before running MameCE3. Don't just hide them but be sure they are closed completely ( a soft reboot is probably the easiest way).
This is required becuase emulation requires extreme amounts of CPU time and if another app is running in the background, it will hinder MameCE3.

Even after soft reset, same way :(

Some of the games work for me now... Some don't register coin insert, others do. I have to press the task key about 6-7 times for each coin insert. If I want three coins, it takes about 20 presses! Buttons (fire for example) work fine during the game itself, it's just the coin insert. At least it is working on some games now.

Very strange. It works without any delay on my device.
I'm out of suggestions at the moment. Some games just don't work properly. Galaga for example will not accept coins(at least on my other devices) I had to set it to free play, and even then it was slow.

i can get astroids (rev2 i think)to work (i have only tried astroids and galaga so far)but i have the same problem as you for galaga except i dont know how to set it to free play how do you do that?
