MAME starts okay and I can list all games but when I select to play one the screen goes blank (black) and then returnes after a few seconds. I have plenty of free mem and I updated the gx.dll. Any other ideas.
Thanks

I've had this same issue. Which games are you having issues with. I had issue with 720, set 1. Now it works for some crazy reason though. I also was able to get dig dug, galaga, rampage set 1, tron, and crazy kong to work. But screen comes up too big on most of them and it makes it damn near impossible to play...

Listing the games doesn't do anything except show which games are supported. You need to download the game Roms for the games you want to play, and put them in the Roms folder.

I have the same problem: I select a game from the list, one that does indeed have a ROM in the ROMS folder, the screen goes blank/blue for a moment, then returns to the initial list of games.

I have tried several supposedly supported games like PacMan, Galaga, Galaxian and Donkey Kong.

However, Asteroids does work, but this is the only one I've gotten to work.

Try a soft reboot before playing to see if that helps. Also be sure you have enough free program memory and a little free storage memory to be safe.
Asteroids works , so that is a good sign that everything is setup and operational. Maybe try a different(older) romset.
I haven't tried any of the new .53 versions so maybe they have made a few changes.
