Hi,
I'm having the same problem as several other iPAQ users. I can install MAME or MEGA, put the ROMS into their directories. MAME sees them, but whenever I click play I get a blue screen for a minute or so and then get kicked back to the menu. Has anyone solved this. Lots of free memory etc.

Seeing the same problem. Looks like MAMECE doesn't work with the new iPAQ. Ine thought - when I try to install, I don't replace the gx.dll, becuase the iPAQ one is newer. Might be a compatiblity issueb

MameCE3 does work with the iPaq 3870.
It might be the games you are trying to play, or the version of the ROM.
The current version is based on Mame v.36 and I know some ROMs have been changed in the newest .5x series.

Try older games first, such as pacman, tempest, and frogger. This should prove that the emulator is working as expected. The newer (and larger) the Game and ROM the higher chance it will not run currently.
If this is the case you may have to wait for future builds.
It's a work in progress after all :)

I`ve got the same problem. When I try to start a game, the IPAQ 3870 shows a dark screen for some second and then return to the menue.

How can I see, which vesion the roms are? I tryed several roms from Pacman to Galaga nothing worked.

Unfortunately its not easy to identify the 'version' of a ROM.

You'll need to run a desktop version of MAME and do a Rom Check. If it passes with the current version then it may be the newer ROM and it may be the problem.
If you run version .36 final of MAME and the rom Passes, then it should be the right ROM. Again the game may pass the check but it may be one of the Games that are still not operational in MameCE3.
Hopefully I will get the next build finished soon and then the newer ROMs should work again.
