My question is are the roms that are used for regular MAME used for the MAMECE. I've downloaded the MAMECE but am wondering which ROMS to use.

If I'm not mistaken, an earlier post stated that MAMECe is based on ROMs from the MAME version 0.36 final.

Correct, the current version is based on Desktop MAME version .36
If the rom has not changed since then, they will work.

If however the MAME Team has altered the ROM to make it more true to emulation, it may not work in the current release.
The only workaround is to try and find older ROMS, or wait for the next release of MAMECE3 that may hopefully be based on the newest release of MAME.
