Does (or will) MameCE3 support the new IPAQs (39xx) that have the 400 MHz Intel procs?

MameCE already runs on the 3955. However it is very slow and unplayable when sound is enabled. With sound disabled Mario Bros and Donkey Kong Jr were running full speed. Those were the only games I tested.
One thing you should know about the Xscale processor is that no software (that I know of) is optimized for it. Sure you can run ARM code, but its not going to run any faster then the 206MHz ARM chip on other PDAs. There are even cases the it will run slower on the 400MHz Xscale.

Performance of my 3955 overall is pretty good, and this is using the PocketPC 2002 OS. Since I havent used a device with the 206MHz ARM processor I cant really compare. From what I've read on many Pocket PC sites is that performance varies. Like I said in my past post, it will be no faster than the 206MHz ARM chip and in some cases even slower. Fortunately, the upcoming Windows CE OS will have Xscale optimizations.

Lion, I would really appreciate if you could try few more games and tell me how much % /frameskip do you get in them. I'd like if you could try 1941, Gun Smoke and Galaga.

I would also be very thankful if you could try CB64CE (commodore 64) emulator and tell me if and how fast it runs.

Will try those games as soon as possible. I'll try to have a verdict for you by the middle of this week.

Thanks a lot! In all honesty, my next PDA purchase will be be in big part based on your input. I'd also like if you or anyone else could compare MAMECE3 speeds on old Ipaq models (3650) with new ones (3955 and 3975)

I'm not interested in sound being enabled anyways, so feel free to keep it off at all times.
