I'm not sure if its the correct way, but these two ways worked for me.
The first is to install mame on your desktop and run the game you are having a problem with. Then copy the .cfg file that was created for that game from the cfg directory(desktop) to the cfg directory on your PocketPC.
The second is to buy a keyboard. I found a real cool one that folds up called Stowaway.
