ROM Sets have gone thru changes as the development of the emulator has evolved. There is no 'converter' for making current romsets into older type sets. you'll have to try and track down the older set. I am working on a newer release that will use the current set, but I got sidetracked with real life work a few months back and only just recently had time to do any work on MameCE3. I have a maintenace release schedule shortly and then I will focus back on the new version.

As for the mapping problem, this relates to the fact that every manufacturer seems to decide to change the internal Key mapping codes for each and every new model of their devices. The code for mameCE3 was using those internal mappings and had to be redesigned with each change. My last release used a function call that IDd the unit but it still required me to have the Codes. The next release should fix that problem as well. :)
