SubjectWindows CE Service Pack 3 - MAMECE don't jive! Reply to this message

I just recently flashed my ROMs on my iPAQ 3800 with the new (and unreversable) Service Pack 3 for Windows CE. It rendered my MAMECE unusable due to not being able to find certain ROM files... Gandalf's MAME won't work either for the same reasons.

Sucks to be me eh?

Looks like a quick fix needs cooking...

By the way, to explain why I chose to flash my guts to the new SP3 - I wanted that Windows Media Player 8.5 - Seems to work very well despite feeling guilty about liking it. Handles gobs of MP3s very well, and with the controls mapped to buttons, I can track thru the collection without crashing my car.

Seems the SP3 has not affected any other applications - yet.

Cheers,

Replaced it with MameCEv9.5 and it worked well - the version that did not work with WinCE Service Pack 3 was 9.4.

I still have no troubles running PocketNES, nor a slu of other apps - maybe mine was an isolated incedent. who knows.

Hats off to the slew of developers who make this possible. I never imagined in those days when I was chuckin quarters into those stand-ups that I would be carrying around hundreds of them inside a handheld computer - for Free.

You do a service to this world.

Not sure why V9.5 fixed the problem other than the fact that it reinstalled the gx.dll. In any case glad it is working again :)

PS , it still blows me away as well. The fact that I have an Arcade in my pocket :)
