SubjectIncompatible with iPAQ 1910? new Reply to this message

I just installed Version 9.5 on my new iPAQ 1910 and it doesn't seem to be compatible. The program DOES load and shows a list of ROMS (I tried Space Invaders, Galaxian, Galaga, Moon Patrol, Qix, Journey, etc.).

Space Invaders and Moon Patrol were the only ones to initially allow me to play but only for about 2 minutes before it crawled to one frame every 15 seconds. All other ROMS wouldn't even get to the Insert Coin screen (the screen only became a mush of graphics).

It seemed that as I was playing and using the four buttons that the iPAQ was loading Tasks, Inbox, Calender, etc. as every time I tried to quit the emulator it had everything loaded up. I tried both the default mapping and custom mapping.

Anyone else have sucess on an iPAQ 1910?

I too am having a similar problem with the IPAQ 1910 (although I am using iMAME). Games initially run fantastically, but on trying to quit it looks like my hard keys have opened loads of apps, and I end up having to do a system reset.
Is it anything to do with the xscale processor ??? who knows !
Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have been able to get MameCE 9.5 to run on the IPAQ 1910 and it runs great! The secret is that you MUST disable the function key assignments of the front buttons BEFORE playing MAME.

Do this by going to the "settings" option under the start menu. Click on the "Personal" tab (if necessary). Then click on "Buttons". Change the assignment for all 5 buttons to "none". Now you can play MAMECE!! When you are done playing, if you want, you can go back to the "Buttons" settings menu and select "Restore Defaults" and the default assignments will be back!

Note that this is referring to the "Buttons" assignment of Windows CE, NOT the button assignment option available when running the MAMECE program itself.

I have successfully played many of the MAME games after doing this without the "slowdown" and opening of multiple apps that you describe. I haven't tried it with the MegaMAMECE yet.

The iPAQ 1910 is the coolest of all the IPAQ's due to it's small size. It is truly "shirt pocket" size. I love the screen too. Yes, it's a little slower than the more expensive IPAQ's, but it runs the early mame games well (including 1941, centipede, millipede, scramble, etc., etc.)

Enjoy.

P.S. I have had trouble getting past the initizalition screens of some games like defender that require pressing F2 to "advance" past the setup screens. If anyone has figured this out, let me know. Thanks.
