Has anyone tried MegamameCE on an Axim X50v? I had an ipaq 3115 before ...it worked great. Disappointed...but oh well :/

I must be tired...I forgot to specify that I have not gotten this to work on my Axim X50v. I installed it, but when I try to open it, it stalls and remains stuck at the Loading animation. Has anyone had any luck loading this?

Me got X50V also, great PDA. I got it running. You have to use a modified GAPI driver to get it to run. It is from a guy by the name of PicardBeta. Here is the site to get the GAPI driver.

The problem is that the X50v uses a special GPU for the framebuffer. It is the Intel 2700G GPU. The GAPI driver has been recently been modified further by a person named Emulamer. He made some new excellent changes.

Just install the GAPI tweak using the 1.11 version (the latest). It gives a great speed boost as well, at least 7to10 fold!

Is the sound an issue for you infiniti? I can't get it to work :/ Also has Techmaster ever considered making this an open source project? I'm sure many people would like to contribute to this awesome piece of software.

You mean you got NO sound? You have to enable it in the emu. Also check the 'show clones', so you see more of what you got. I have sound but it is touch and go for most games. Alot of crackling and such. That is just the emu. MameCE really needs updating...badly. I wish someone would finish this thing.

I've been trying to get it to work on my Axim x50v. I've installed the application, also the GAPI tweak from PicardBeta, and put the rom zips in the /rom
subfolder. The application opens, displays the list of games, but selecting any one of them and Play makes the screen go black for a few seconds, then MegaMAMECE exits.

Any helpful pointers? Thanks

Well i wish there were updates to it but i dont blame people who create things for free. Sure Techmaster has other priorities in life.

Emulator still works well, on my PPC i still have to always select sound on and reconfigure the keys everytime i load it up but just being able to run Commando/Bombjack perfectly is brilliant

If you look at my reply it wasnt exactly agressive. I love updates like i said but when its free then i understand there might not be many of them.

I pointed out some of the problems it still has but i think its a brilliant emulator.

If you think i'm a 'troublemaker' for replying then boy you have a problem. As you can see from many previous threads i've helped out countless people here i like to think so i wouldnt exactly call myself a troublemaker .

For free i email people trying to explain how to fix things, email people game roms and also have hosted the .cab files for MegamameCe when the sites been down.

Well if Techmaster created most of this himself from scratch he probably just doesnt want to give it away.

As for the other comment which you said i flamed someone thats a joke.

I said the emulator has problems (eg i have to always turn sound on, re-configure game keys every time i start) but a fair few games work very well.

I just wish i had never helped you when you originally emailed me. Thank god i didnt give you the main rom links

Yes reading just the text you can take it the wrong way as you dont know your tone you said it in.

Yes MameCE does need updating, in the old days a lot of PPC's couldnt run this at all but now of course most of the latest PPC's can so if there was a bug free latest version then this could be the best emulator out of all of them.

I love emulators on the PPC (and GP32) but have seen so many times that as soon as the creator then asks for money the majority of people run a mile. If i was Techmaster (I remember a while back he was jobhunting) i would have other priorities if i was looking for a job etc than a fair few people asking me to update a free emulator.

I havent seen Techmaster here that much, if people want him to update it then email him, perhaps the more people who email him and tell him his emulators great theres a chance he might do something with it.

I've never created an emulator myself but i must admit if i did i might find it difficult just to pass it onto someone else after i did most of the hard work myself.

Yes MameCE could be improved but my original comment was meant to say 'yeah theres bugs but it does run many games' so things could be worse.

Call me an a-hole again if you want (childish) or disagree but thats just my view. I've seen so many people ask about other emulators to get fixed or features added, as soon as theres a price tag they run a mile. Having a full time job myself and other priorities i'm not surprised that Techmaster hasnt released a new version, its a huge pity as i would love to see that but i dont blame him if he doesnt.

I'm personally awaiting the Mame release on the GP32 which could be brilliant

Had a few minutes and decided to check out the boards.

First,
infinit11, chill out a little and please watch the language. Psj_3809 is a very strong supporter of this project and is very helpful to this support group. Maybe he came off as if he was 'dishing' it but I know it wasn't meant to be a flame.

Second, psj_3809. Maybe try adding some smileys to your messages when your being funny :)

Third, the project is kinda open. The source is available and any contributions are appreciated and will be added to the core with proper 'acks'.

FYI, The problem with no current releases relates directly to the fact that I was too busy looking for a decent job for the last year. Finally, that problem has been solved (Yeahhh!:). So, time may be directed back at the project sometime in the near future.
That being said, if you (or anyone) have any input on how to draw a MAME bitmap to the screen, I could use input on it. The code based changed so dramatically in the last year and a half that my old routines fail to work. I am trying to understand how to convert the MAME bitmap back to a regular bitmap. Especially since PocketPCs have to assembly language so I can't use the bitblit routines used in the MAME source code.

Anyway.

Thats the thing with the internet, you can take things totally the wrong way as you dont hear the tone and that (thats why i should have put some smileys) but on the other hand messageboards are bad as dweebs can act 'tough' online and talk the talk when theyre thousands of miles away. In person it would be a different matter.

However i think as you can see from his latest response ("..you must be an afro") that hes totally racist as well. What annoys me is that i helped this guy in the first place.

Well, I just said that to get u to stop relpying. I totally helped out the original poster and like i said before, you dissed first with your 'blaming' reply. THAT was totally uncalled for and a 'sorry' from you would have ended all the fuss, but you just kept coming and coming with ur comments until I was forced to shut you up. But that didn't work.

So....in the interest of peace and harmony, I will start off saying that I am truly sorry if I offended you. I am NOT racist as I am married to an Asian woman and have many good friends of different cultures. So, get off your wagon and apologize and let bygones be bygones. 'Nuff said.

I installed emulamer's GAPI driver, and that seems fine. Graphics look good and, on some games, are very fast. Sound is iffy, at best. I'm running v9.50.

The main problem I'm having is landscape mode. If I switch the screen into landscape using control panel, it doesn't make a difference to mame. If I use the rotate screen left option in mame, it turns the screen upside down. If I use rotate screen right, the screen remains in normal portrait layout.

Any ideas?
