i have a new ipaq3630 and like to mame a lot. how about the *#?!ng keyboard-problems? e.g. in one of my favourite games (1942) you can shoot OR navigate. is there a chance to reconfigure the fire-button away from the crappy gamepad-centre to somewhere else? please help a desperate mamer - thank you all!!!

My friend, all I can tell you is: Buy Casio if you want good controls. There's simply no way to achieve something close to normal playability on iPAQ as far as I'm concerned. Buttons on screen can help but IMHO it's also poor solution.

Use the MAME interface to reconfigure the buttons for combo movements.

Actually on Screen buttons work very well. It isn't as good as having the actual hard buttons work correctly but it does play fine with them. :p
Hopefully I'll be able to implement them in MameCE3 soon. :)

OnScreen Buttons would be killer, a portion of the screen for buttons would be nice,
or even a "slider" area to be used like a ribbon controller would be nice, but the main
problem is you can`t use 2 controlls at the same time!! this makes 80% of games
impossible and the rest annoying...

is it just me noticing this?

But, If you want all the speed and full frames, WITHOUT the tweaks, pick up the iPAQ.

IMHO the Casio's are just too slow, even when Overclocked, or running "Casio Specific" emu's which simply underclock and drop frames.

Simple fact: 80% of the games you can even get any enjoyment from with MameCE don't even use diagonals, or many multiple button presses....

Caveat Emptor.
