The underlying problem is that the horizontal games I've tried don't fit on the screen (I've tried LR and Defender). If that was fixed, screen rotation wouldn't needed. Perhaps in the FAQ, a tutorial on the compile process could be included so that people who need to tweak their Mame version can try to learn how to do so.
