SubjectDoes Anybody Noticed This??? new Reply to this message

Anyway I finally got the roms working on my Compact Flash Card with the executable on the main memory. But for some reason, games stored on the CF runs much slower than with the one stored in the main memory. I noticed it when I was playing Pacman, MsPacman, Super Pac-man etc.. I thought that I just need to do a soft reset or free up some memory (I even had about 20mb of free program memory), but it still runs slow. So I decided to transfer it back to the main Memory, then tried it again and you really can see the big difference.

By the way I'm using MameCE3 on Cassiopeia E-125.

That's completely weird... Is the actual game slower or it just load slower? I have all my games and exe file of MAMEBoy in MMC card on my EM-500 and the speed is absolutely the same.

I have no idea what could it be... Techmaster may be able to help you.

Do you see that kind of slowdown with other applications / games on your CF card?

No, It's just That I notice that it runs slower when I was Playing all the Pac man games (Pacman, super pacman, Ms pacman, etc..). BTW I'm using the Extra Large build on my Cassiopia E-125 with a 128mb CF.

That is really odd. The program expands the zips and loads them into Main memory if I'm not mistaken.
If I get a second i'll take and run a comparison myself.

That is correct. Nothing is run directly from a CF card.
Programs & data are read into the unit's RAM for use.
It may take longer to load, but execution will be the same regardless of from whence it was loaded.
