Ha ha ha ha :-))) No, they are not too fast. Start them on the normal MAME on your PC and you'll see the speed is about the same. It seems like it's fast probably because the screen is small so sprites travel shorter physical distance in the same time. You'll get used to it very quicky.

Optimize flilpping and alignment to my best knowledge are the options that would pre-draw flipped sprites before the game starts thus making game run faster. I have yet to measure if there's any real use for them but it looks like they do not bring any speed increase. Show FPS will display small counter on the sreen which will show you how fast the game runs (e.g. 100%, 90%, 80%....) and what is the frame skip. Profiler shows how much CPU time is spent on each of the emulated chips in the game. TBD is (Darren, please confirm) short of "To Be Determined" so this checkbox does nothing for now :-)
