Hi all,

Ok, I heard before that the more gqmes you enable in a Mame build, the slower it gets... That's fiar enough and sounds logical, explaining paritally why MameBoy with its reduced set of games is so fast on EM500.

This said, I also enjoy MameCE3 because it proposes a lot of games that I love to play usually on Win32 Mame... but they are a little bit slow on PktPC.

Why don't you release "splitted" versions of MameCE/MameBoy, with very few games enabled at a time (like 10 max) but running at max speed?
I'm thinking of PinballAction, Trojan, Silkworm... things like that, cool recent games at the limit of being playable.
Cheers!

That's not quite true. It not just that more games makes it slower. It's a *very odd* problem in that sometimes adding one particular game will slow down others. But adding a dozen others games may have no effect. I really have no idea what the source of the problem is much less what the solution may be. All I know is, if I enable [some game] and Ms Pacman suddenly no longer plays fullspeed, [some game] gets removed...

I haven't personally tested it, but I haven't heard anything to indicate that games in the "regular" MAMECE3 build play any faster than those same games in the "large" MAMECE3 build. This would seem to indicate that it is either something in the 0.35beta13 core, or something in Ben's porting causing the strange-slowdown-when-enabling-some-games problem.

It's more complicated than that. Some games when enabled together with some other games simply 'trigger' a slowdown. Therefore I have to hunt such 'conflicts' and disable certain games. Weird, but that's how it is...

That's not the real reason. MAMEBoy uses older MAME source which is faster by it's nature.

You see now that it won't really help. Besides that I have many other personal projects plus a full time job to get done every day. Not much time for such a thing. However I will release a special version of MAMEBoy with all requested games enabled.

Ok, well... it was just a naive suggestion.

Fair enough...
