SubjectWent to the arcades today and saw the latest KOF........ Reply to this message

I saw KOF Neowave, and it looked exactly like the rest of the neogeo titles!! I really do hope the character graphics and backgrounds evolve over the next few years....seems pointless to move to a system like atomisware and pump out the same games they had been earlier. I guess this switch really was done to detour bootlegers and rom kiddies more than anything.

I also saw a hack I'm assuming, it was called "KOF Special Edition 2004", by "dragon corp" i think it was. I don't really follow these games enough to know which KOF it was a hack of, but I'd be interested in finding out more about it (ie whats diff about it).

KOF have been over done more then Donkey Kong, Mario and Zelda combined.

Mainly because Nintendo usually finds a new game format for new games.. Not just past different combinations of characters and send it out the door.

I don't know why anyone would consider hacking a mame version when there are more then enough KOF games at our disposal

Well thats pretty obvious! My point was that I would have thought they'd improve the graphics, now that they're using more advanced hardware.

And I was referring to an actual arcade hack! Thought maybe someone would have been familiar with it...

I was really agreeing with you. More of what company would think that was ok. And that even Nintendos consistent reuse of the same characters look better and add some different gameplay.

People have been hacking mame versions to run hacked versions of KOF games for both 2001+ and hacks for a bit now. KOF games seem like a stupid reason to hack a mame version, thats all.

Why would you "hack" mame? Its source is freely available. Not to mention there are a handful of other NeoGeo emulators that can play those hacks. But I agree, why bother? The last KoF I enjoyed was 99/Evo. What would have been nice is if they'd have changed to better hardware to make games of Evo's quality in the arcade.

I like King of Fighters 2003 for its 'tagging' and the sub boss as well as the final boss...
I'm also getting into SVC: Chaos, but I miss the "3 on 3" King of Fighter matches... I'd at least like a "2 on 2" like Dead or Alive 2 and Tekken Tag...
