I agree. Sometimes the 3rd game in a series is good, but after that usually it's just milking a franchise and the creative spark is gone.

Dunno. Especially since Haze and much of MAMEdev are very negative toward the neogeo (and cps2) driver. I also understand how hard it is to actually see those games in an arcade, I never have. It depends on what country you're in, some countries still have many Neos, others have nearly none.
Best advice, buy a neo and the games, or compile your own builds. ;)
