SubjectLAST HOPE - new NEO-GEO shmup similar to Pulstar new Reply to this message

Last Hope, a new NEO-GEO AES shmup similar to R-Type, Last Resort and especially similar to Pulstar. This will need to be dumped & emu'd ^___^

the developer was asking $700 USD for basicly hacked up AES carts. they're only making 30-40 supposedly.
but then lowered the price to $550.

Last Hope looks pretty good, but not $550 good. I can taste the ROMZ already.

but there are also MVS, Neo CD and DREAMCAST versions planned (though not set in stone)

Good enough for a homebrew, but repetitive "art" that lacks the visual beauty of Pulstar or Last Resot for that matter. Not $550 material.

It doesn't sound like it'll be in arcades, isn't AES just the console and not arcade? So I doubt MAME would support it, and I can't think of any Neo Geo Console emulator that'd support it either...
It just sounds like a way to make money...
-Gee I just said we don't need every Neo Geo game, Haze and Belmont will think Hell froze over...I'll ber though even HeHateMe won't go for the cart. I could be wrong...

they say they're thinking about an MVS release - and you have to admit a lot of work went into that one... wouldn't pay THAT much for it though.

..but you shouldn't care about videogames in general. this is the neogeo board and so i guess this post is relevant here- it's better than another svc:c 'how do i run it in neoragex' post, is it not?

neogeo owners love overpriced shit on old hardware, and this is sure to sell out. we shouldn't care, but someone out there does. c'est la vie.

Until an arcade version is made, its just a novelty. I guess there are a lot of nutty Neo Geo fans, if there are people wanting to buy this for the console, but at least atm I don't have a burning desire to have every ROM for MAME...

As I'm fond of saying, I play 10% *maybe 12-15% now that I'm up to 260 favorites* of my MAME library, I'm less wow'ed by yet another Neo game, particularly console only....

Although I do consider myself a neo geo junkie, just not @ the level of HeHateMe...

I agree completely.

This game heavily borrows from R-Type, apparently without introducing anything revolutionary.

There should be something very good about it to be sold at that price, other than "it's a new game for the NeoGeo, w0000t".

Otherwise, I regret I can't develop NeoGeo games :P

From looking at the video, it really remind me of R-Type.

for $550. screw that. it's worth about $40 in terms of gamplay since it's a "new" game.

NOTHING I've seen in the video footage wowed me and you could have fooled me into thinking that it's a 16bit SNES games. the whole thing looks BORING to me.

Axelay for the SNES looks better than this thing

One word of advice tho I'm sure this game will be worth something in the long LONG run as a collector's item.

The game looks ok, just not worth the asking price :/. Might be more than worth a download though.

Neogeo is like a closed book to me, much like the Dreamcast. If someone needs the money, more power to him but I don't really need to steal his game, I wouldn't play it either way.
