Nicky Special made the following announcement on vpforums.com - basically he does not want his work shown or transferred on any site but his own (which he took down). The following tables are in the processof being updated at AJ's vPinmame and IRPinball to comply with his request.
Most changes only require a new screenshot to be placed on the download pages - as the current backdrops have been changed and are no longer Nicky Special's work.

Please check your files and update as appropriate to avoid legal action by Nicky Special.

If anyone wants to read the thread, just delay your bedtime for a while. I've only read the 1st 2 pages of 6 so far. :)

But I still don't understand exactly what pissed him off so much...? Supposedly he added backdrops to some tables without authors' permission, some authors didn't like it, & now Nicky Special has gone mad. Hmm...

I would tend to think (this is both in favour & against Nicky Special) that because Visual Pinball is public domain, VPinMAME is too, & then the tables contain the original manufacturer's name, game name, their graphics reproduced, sounds in some cases, & require the ROMs (which usually produce the bulk of the sound depending on the table), should every table not be public domain as well? I mean, we seem to think that we should be able to use all of those freely, so why should the table authors (I'm talking US, not William's etc.) say what you can & can't do?

I mean, I authored 1 table (Millionaire) & modded 2 (Taxi & Black Knight 2000), but actually Millionaire is really a mod of Pinbot (though Pinbot's author Andre did give me permission to do that after I asked him & this is mentioned in Millionaire's credits) & honestly, even though I set about some simple "rules" for modding Millionaire (which nobody has done anyway) if someone decided to rip it apart, add profanity, & release it, I honestly wouldn't care that much. This is supposed to be about PINBALL EMULATION & SIMULATION, not egos, authors, etc. I mean I will ask authors any just out of respect & because this is what was requested in the VPForums but think about it.

Don't forget... This is the internet, what do you expect?

Nicky is trying to claim copyright on a simple collage of other people's copyrighted work (the pictures he built the backdrops out of) ..??

Bah.. sorry, but he can blow me.

1. By putting his "work" into a public domain file, they became public domain. There is no "undo" .. no license, no basis to revoke that usage. You can't stuff the shit back up the horse's ass, sorry.

2. He has no case.. any court in the land would laugh him right out of the building. Trying to claim ownership of someone else's images is ludicrous.

I certainly won't use any of his stuff in the future, but damned if I make ANY extra effort to remove his shit from existing files or anything. What a cocky little runt, expecting hundreds of people to edit his shit outta dozens of files just cuz he wants to OH NO QUIT DA SKENE!!!1
