I have an Athlon 900mhz, 128mb RAM with a GeForce2MX vid card and Vpinball in fullscreen mode runs slow and is missing a lot of frames causing severe jerky behaviour! Is my PC just too darn slow or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Just tried T2 w/o sound and it worked fine. But even in a shitty res like 640x480 with sound on I notice a lot of slowdown- I have a SB Live!, surely this is good enough?

I have a 1ghz athlon with same everything else (sb32, not sblive). I get all but one game running full speed with sound. But it can start to slow down...

IE, I'm at the edge of the needed system. I would guess you should be able to play 90% of the time full speed.

Check to see if some of the simpler games run better

You should be able to play that game no prob with sound. I have a Celeron 433 & with sound I do experience jerkiness. And I play my games with an 800*600 window. I also have a SBLive! so at double the speed you should be able to fly. But then again, T2 seems to have many bugs (it kinda crashed my system) so we need a fixed version.

Comet & High Speed run fine on my system & Pinbot & F-14 Tomcat are fine without sound. You should be able to get the latter 2 to work great with sound I think.

# of bugs found in Windows so far:

An Athlon 900 is plenty sufficient to run any of these tables, even attack from mars and indianapolis 500.

1. Make sure you're desktop display depth is 16-bit high color (not 24 or 32 bit true color)

2. Make sure only one table is open. It is possible to have multiple tables open in Visual Pinball.. close them all and make sure the only open one is the one you're about to play.

3. Make sure nothing CPU-hoggish is running in the background.. findfast, application-start tuneup, browsers with java/flash/etc displaying, etc.

Try these and report back :)

That was the culprit! I had my display set to 32 bit, it runs a *lot* smoother in 16 bit.. thanks for the help!
