I want to buy a pinball machine in the 1500-2500 dollar range. This will be my first pinball to buy. What should I consider getting. I am leaning towards Demolition Man or Terminator 2, or should I be thinking more on the lines of Twilight Zone.

Terminator 2 was terrible. I thought the star trek next generation one was good, but Twilight Zone was easily one of the best pinball machines I've played. Tales from the Crypt was good too. That said, I haven't played many pinball machines...

Twilight Zone is good for long term replay value. Personally, if I could buy just one machine I'd go with Theatre of Magic. After that, it'd probably be Twilight Zone, Jurassic Park and then maybe either Star Trek The Next Generation or maybe Attack From Mars (the latter (AFM) was great, but after I beat the Wizard Mode at the arcade it lost some of its appeal).

Skip T2 ... you will be bored after 5 plays ... Steve Richie's game are great in the arcade ... not so fun at home. Demo man is better but GO for TZ ... much better and you'll know where that extra $ went ... Trust me ;)

Indiana Jones!!!

What you guys seem to forget is that Twilight Zone is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to maintain, what with all the magnets and overheating and I can't even BEGIN to go into this. Anyway, unless you're a maintenence buff, play TZ at the arcade. It's cheaper in the long run.

Don't be scared away from the Twilight Zone because of the maintanance. It was my first game, and I haven't faced any problems that the Jonathan and the other good folks at rec.games.pinball couldn't walk me through. And after the initial repairs (the clock is the only real problem) my TZ has been running with only the need for standard pinball repairs for over 4 years. Besides, it is the best pinball game ever.
