Oh great - I guess my Celeron 433 will be a little hard-pressed. :)
Turning off the sound is the very best option for making games run faster or less choppy. But I've also noticed that if you downgrade the sound quality (I've downgraded some of my games to 11025) performance increases noticeably, if you can put up with "telephone" quality. :) Running at a lower resolution helps too.
P.S. Why can't I find a ROMset that contains the sound ROMs??? :)
