For sure your system is weak for VPinMAME but you may be able to run Visual Pinball. I'm not sure if you need to run it in high colour or if 256 colours is fine. I'd say make sure you are using 640x480 window size & if you are using 256 colours try high colour if your card can support it. You may have to view at 640x480 overall screen size first.
My 2nd PC is slightly better than yours (P233 MMX, 96 MB, 4 MB video) & I couldn't imagine even trying visual pinball on it. Good luck anyway.
