Just so you know, I tried VPinMAME on my 2nd system playing Comet (possibly the best game on VPinMAME speedwise) with sound & samples on at 640x480 & it worked almost perfectly! So you may be able to play VPinMAME after all. Though you would likely have to turn sound off (by pressing F1 after starting a table & unchecking Use Sound) with most games.
