Pinmame is a stand alone program for running the pinball roms. Vpinmame is a .com file which encapsulates pinmame. It was specially created so that Visual pinball could control it. So instead of you manually activating things in pinmame, actions that occurr in Visual pinball activate the roms (don't ask me how, I'm not a programmer). Its not really a windows version of pinmame. The windows version of pinmame is pinmame32.
