SubjectVery impressed so far... new Reply to this message

...Especially with The Getaway and Twilight Zone. I used to play TZ frequently when I was in college. In fact, I've been seriously considering buying one for some time now. What surprised me was how faithful the recreation is, and that I can still play it just as well as I used to :-) In fact, last night I just got "Lost in the Zone" for what I believe is the first time ever. (I think I came really close a couple of times on the real machine, but never quite did it) Too bad the notorious "clock target ball eater" locked up my game shortly thereafter :( But things are really progressing nicely on it, and so far, that bug hasn't reared its ugly head on v1.9a.

T2 is pretty impressive as well, even without the artwork. It kicks my ass just as well as the real thing did last weekend when I played it...

And the 1.4 revision of the Getaway is just amazing, especially with all the extra graphics that were just added. I always liked this one in the arcade as well.

Now the only tables I wish for are Indiana Jones and Dracula... (Thinking about buying one of those too... ;) )

Keep up the good work VPinmame developers!

I would hope not, it's been fixed. But I know what you mean. I got the "Lost In The Zone" on ball 1 yesterday and was working on the 3rd to last event before the second occurance in one game and I lost the ball in the back, game froze, game over. Everything lost, esteem gone. Now I seem to get it all on a regular basis.

Yeah, I remember Indiana Jones. I broke the high score in a bar/restaurant in northern NJ a couple of years ago after playing it only like 3-4 times. I went back a year later, and surprisingly, the high score was still there. I totally forgot about it and laughed my ass off when I saw it.

I was quite impressed with this table, too. It's an amazingly faithful recreation of the original table -- the author of that one really took his time and did it right. I used to play the real thing back in an old pool hall I used to haunt. When I wasn't playing pool, I was playing Twilight Zone, or this other one whose name escapes me at the moment. (It was another pool-themed game whose main feature was a rather large white cue ball in the center of the table that you'd hit at times to score points. Mainly, I played this one 'cos the replay score was rediculously easy to beat. :-)

What I'd like to see? I think it was Superman... the last pinball table Atari developed way back, and certainly one of the largest (if not THE largest) pinball tables ever to make a dent on an arcade floor.

I'd also love to see Xenon (was that it? The sci-fi themed one in the early 80s with artwork that reminded me of H.R. Geiger -- maybe it was his art?) and one other, it may have been black knight. The main thing I remember about the table was that it was 3 levels -- an upper, a main, and a sub-level underneath the main level with two small flippers and a few targets.

Ah, those were the days...

Bah..

[BRAG]

3.5 Billion, on a real machine, 3 ball, factory settings, P3 (prototype) ROMS with smaller jackpot values.

Even better:
Dracula: 7.38 Billion, factory settings except replay = extra ball. Dracula is *not* an easy game.

On a real TZ machine (standard factory settings):

11,711,685,590 (LitZ = 512,698,130)

That was 5 years ago, on the second day the store had it... It's still there, undefeated.

I should take a screenshot the next time I play the game. I scored 700,000,000+ on LitZ the other day. How I don't know.... needless to say, it moved me to the top of the scores after that one.

Nice score veggie! Especially nice LITZ.. My highest LITZ was also 500+ million, but achieved on a different game than the 3B one. Now, can you top 7B+ on Drac? :)

As for VP, LITZ seems to score a LOT more points in VP, mostly due to huge GREED totals. Go see if you can get that 700M on the real thing :)

I played Drac a few times down the shore once (I live in NJ) but only cause I had a few tokens to kill. Wasn't very good at it. I spent most of my time on the Junkyard and ST: TNG pins :-)
