Yeah I believe a slam tilt is when you hit the coin door because a coin is stuck - it was probably implemented because banging the coin door wrecks the devices that accept a quarter or reject a slug. If you activate it then all games in progress are lost & the machine is reset - much like CTRL-ALT-DELETE under DOS. All credits not yet used are kept however.
Not sure about bang-back but I know that pinball machines were often equipped with a hidden pinball on rails which activates a full tilt when it reaches the end of the rails. Perhaps this is the bang-back tilt?
