Hi,

I'm trying to implement tilting in my Control Panel...

I was able to figure out these (in Visual Pinball):
- Z Til Left
- Space Tilt Center
- / Tilt Right
- Home Slam Tilt ?????
- T Bang Back ?????

Can you describe me the way to do a Slam Tilt and a Bank back in a real pinball machine so I can try to implement these in my CP.

thanks

Not sure about how a bangback works, but a slam tilt is activated by beating on the coin door. (usually when you have a stuck coin that won't go through)

Yeah I believe a slam tilt is when you hit the coin door because a coin is stuck - it was probably implemented because banging the coin door wrecks the devices that accept a quarter or reject a slug. If you activate it then all games in progress are lost & the machine is reset - much like CTRL-ALT-DELETE under DOS. All credits not yet used are kept however.

Not sure about bang-back but I know that pinball machines were often equipped with a hidden pinball on rails which activates a full tilt when it reaches the end of the rails. Perhaps this is the bang-back tilt?

A "Bang Back", similar to a "Death Save", is a method by which you can sometimes get your ball back from the left or right outlanes. On some machines this is pretty easy, while others it's really difficult, and it depends mainly on how solid your pin's stands are and how sensitive the tilt mechanism is.

To do a Bang Back in real life: Your ball may be rolling down the left outlane. In that case, hold the left flipper up and, with your other hand, deliver a sharp, fast hit against the front of the machine. BE REALLY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS! If you do it wrong, you can seriously mess up your wrist! It will take some practice, but if you do it properly, the ball can be knocked back up onto the right flipper.

In the support VBS files for WPC, S11, etc., Bang-back support was implemented by simply nudging the machine by a large value. There's some randomness to it now, and it can set off the simulated tilt mechanism in most machines... so use it wisely.
