SubjectActiveX and WPC problem new Reply to this message

When I run any table I get a:
"Unable to run VPinMame
The ActiveX component can't cteate the object" error.

Followed by:
"This table requires VPinmame ver 00990300 or higher"

and:
"This table requires WPC.VBS ver 1 or higher"

I just downloaded and installed all the VisualPinball and VPinmame stuff, so, it seems strange to me to have some outdated components.

Besides, I managed to run a couple of tables (Judge Dredd and Theatre of Magic) before getting this error message.

From then on I get the message with every table.

Can anybody help me?

I also get this problem, though for me it started after I used the current GBA-Renamer which also has ActiveX problems and gives the same "The ActiveX component can't cteate the object" error. Are you using this as well? or did the problem start differently?, so far I have found no fix for it and even the GBA-Renamer auther was unable to help despite many tries. If you are using the renamer the suggestion I got was to wait for the next one which should work (as the renamer screwed it up in the first place for me I'm hopefull that it will help the pinball situation as well)

I've got the same problem but never used GBA-Renamer...

Old Japanese saying: Monitors may still work with a dead cap, but they will not withstand a shotgun shell after I fall in the crocodile pit in Shadow Dancer 20 times in a row.

As I say in the post just below, it ALL went right after I ran the VPinmame SETUP.EXE file.

Strange but that's life :)

I had this problem when the last set of vbs script files were updated...
After downloading an active x manager to see what components
needing updating i still had the same problem so i then had a look at the visual basic build visual pinball was using.
If you look at Microsofts technical support page. URL
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q181/8/54.ASP you will see a patch for visual basic 5 which acts as a
fixfile for this error (symptom 4 in the notes).
I downloaded and ran this file and this error has yet to reoccur for me.(It updates some active x components).
I am not sure if this was just luck but you might like to try it to see if this helps...
Thanks to all at the WPC mame and Visual Pinball Forums for
the great tables and to Shiva for his great support for all
things pinball..

I seem to remember that early versions of Internet Explorer
5 had some incompatability problems but 5.5 and above this
was sorted out.(my own browser was an early version).

Fixed it, I downloaded and installed Windows Script 5.6 from http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting56.asp and it all works fine now
