I just bought an external hard drive, and it has a stand for you to support it on it's side. Is there anything wrong with that? It seems imbalanced to me. I tried just leaving it on the floor horizontally, but it got really hot. I guess it cools better if it's on the side.

It won't hurt it to be on it's side at all...
