As you may or may not know, I recently was into the whole computer upgrade scene. Got me an Athlon XP 2400+ on an A7V8X-X mobo, new case. I used my old hard drive, which I had recently upgraded to Windows XP.

Anyway, I got everything set up, and I started it, and for a while it was cool. I was in the BIOS section (how do I get back there?), and all was sweet. I upgraded the BIOS to a new version... and that's when everything went to shit. I couldn't get my comp to access Windows XP. For a while there, it'd go past the part where it posts my mobo, flashes me the Blue Screen of Death, and reboots itself. Over and over again. From here, it looks like I need to reinstall Windows XP.

But I wanted to make sure there were no incompatibilities, so I unplugged everything except the video card and RAM. Apparently, it doesn't recognize my hard drives or my CD-ROM drive-- just my floppy disk drive. And let me tell you, even if you have a Windows XP bootdisk, you still need that CD-ROM drive.

Of course, I could be way off. It could be totally fucked up with some sort of hardware incompatibility, or... I don't know. I need to reinstall Windows XP, but that means resetting the BIOS or something to prove I have a CD-ROM drive, and then I can install the OS. But I don't know how to do that.

I've come this far-- I won't let this thing turn into a hunk of junk on me.
